Cliff Phelps

During early 2017, the band lost a great friend and supporter, Cliff Phelps. Cliff was for many years a Dodington Parish Councillor and was instrumental in the formation of the Band and subsequently represented the band's interests on the the council. We remember Cliff fondly, especially every Christmas, when he arranged for the band to play at the Frome Valley Lodge carol service at the Masonic Hall in Chipping Sodbury. He was a great character and is very much missed.

On 20th March 2018, the Band were proud to present a concert in memory of Cliff. It was held at Dodington Parish Hall and very well attended by local people and his council colleagues. The music included  "What a Wonderful World", one of Cliff's favourite pieces.

Time to Say Thank You Concert

thankyou1550

In November 2014 the band had performed a very successful concert in Chipping Sodbury Town Hall to mark the beginning of the First World War. This year, the band wished to commemorate the ending of the hostilities, so on 20th October 2018 their "Time to Say Thank You" Concert was held, this time at St Nicholas Church in Abbotswood, Yate. "St Nick's" proved to be an excellent venue for both band and audience enjoyment. The Concert was held in conjunction with Yate and Sodbury Royal British Legion to whom all profits were donated. The theme was to give thanks for peace, remember those lost and consider those who endured this difficult time thus putting Britain on the path to where it is today. The music reflected this, including pieces from both World Wars and onwards through the years to modern favourites.
