“The Show Goes On!”

Each year,  Dodington Parish Council, host the band for “Brass on the Grass” at Lilliput Park. However the weather this June brought heavy rain and severe winds. Fortunately the council were able to open the Dodington Parish Hall so we could play indoors. A significant audience formed, and grew as the concert proceeded as word got out and people managed to find us. It turned out to be a great show!

August brought in better weather for “Concert in the Park” at Kingsgate Park, Yate. Always an enjoyable event for players and audience alike.

Back on the Bandstand!

We really enjoyed being back on the Bandstand at John Coles Park in Chippenham in June. The weather was kind and the park busy with a good audience.

The previous weekend, we performed at the Chipping Sodbury Festival. A very hot day, but it did not deter the crowds!

Coronation Concert

The Band returned from their Xmas break ready to roll with a selection of new music, funded by Dodington Parish Council. On the last Sunday in February a training day was held to further develop the new pieces of music. This was held at Yate Parish Hall as a change from the regular rehearsal venue, Dodington Parish Hall. The day was skilfully led by Peter, our musical director and all enjoyed the playing, the lunch and Adele’s cakes!

The first engagement of the year was a Coronation Concert, organised by Dodington Parish Council in their Hall. Members of the audience were welcomed by flags and a light show, while the Band struck up with ‘This Is Brass’. A wide variety of music was played, including Peter’s medley arrangement, Patriotica, accompanied by hearty singing from the audience. Refreshments were kindly provided by the Council, and everyone enjoyed themselves; a fitting celebration of King Charles’ and Queen Camilla’s Coronations.
